Setup to install UBUNTU

What is UBUNTU? Why UBUNTU?

UBUNTU means is an ancient  African word that means " humanity to others ".

Ubuntu is an operating System consisting entirely of free and open source software, with Ubuntu you can surf the internet include internet messengers Gaim = (AIM, ICQ, qMSN, qYahoo!, qIRC, qJabber and many others), Mozilla, FireFox = Internet Explorer, read email just like to Outlook = Evolution , Create documents, spreadsheets (Open Office = Microsoft Office) and Much More Professional Software's like Gimp = Adobe Photoshop , Sodipodi = Corel Draw, Complier = GCC, G++, MediaPlayer = GXine, Xine, Xmms and much more !!! you can imagine...UBUNTU gives you power and flexibility for business, education and home users. UBUNTU is free of Viruses and no halt system. This operating system will install Approximately all world wide Languages.

  1. Get Free Cd of Ubuntu Linux to visit http://www.ubuntulinux.org or http://shipit.ubuntu.com

  2. Start the computer and enter to Bios Setup by pressing F2 or F10 or Del.

  3. Change System Bios Boot Order to Boot from Cd Rom.

  4. Save the Setting and Exit form the Bios Setup Mode.

  5. 1st Screen will Appears then Press F1 for help and advance installation option or press Enter to install UBUNTU Default installation.

  6. Choose your required Language and  Press Enter. (e.g. English)

  7. Select you Location. (e.g. Pakistan)

  8. Select your Keyboard Layout. (e.g. American English)

  9. If your System is on LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network) or MAN (Metropolitan Network) that will automatically detect Network Settings. Press YES to continuous. (You can also configure Network Manually to choose No)

  10. Choose a hostname. (e.g. GeniusBaby)

  11. Hard disk Partitions.

    1- Do it auto partitions. (For Stand Alone Installation).

    2- If you have already win98, win2000 or XP you delete any partition to Install UBUNTU.

        (For Example you have 20Gb Hard Disk and having 4 Partitions you Delete 1 Partition )

         Setup will ask you auto partitions to use free space. Select this Option and Press YES.

    3- Setup Verify the Partition size. Now you that will ask you 2nd time. you Press YES.

    4- Wait just some seconds, System will format your Hard Disk. 

  12. Now after the Partitions the Hard Disk, Ubuntu Base system installing and copying the packages to Hard Disk.

  13. Choose your Time Zone. (e.g. Karachi or GMT+5:00)

  14. Now you Create username, that you will use in future to login. (e.g. umair) Remember

  15. Now you Enter password, the system will ask you re-enter password. (e.g. 123456) Remember

  16. Then a Screen will appear that first stage of installation is complete NOW. Press ENTER to continuous.

  17. Take Out your CD from Cd Rom.

  18. After Reboot the System reconfigure packages and also configure Drivers. (Time Depend upon your System Speed).

How to Show all Desktop Icons?

Go to Application Tab ____  System Tools ____ Configuration Editor ____ apps ____ nautilus ____ Desktop ____ Select CheckBox to all
